Vuka Gaz’lam is a passionate and dedicated organization based in the Greater Mpumalanga province of South Africa. Our mission is to promote equity and diversity in the performing arts and arts education for both South African audiences and artists. We firmly believe in celebrating and preserving the cultural knowledge of African, indigenous, and Komatipoort communities throughout the country.
Through our music and dance programs, we strive to create a vibrant and inclusive arts landscape that reflects the demographics, aesthetic values, and cultural traditions of our local audiences. We are committed to ensuring that both local and visiting performers and educators in South African traditions accurately represent the diverse makeup of our communities.
Vuka Gaz’lam values and celebrates diversity. Central to our mission is the representation of cultural practices of historically marginalized communities through our educational programming. We define diversity in terms of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, ability, and class, as well as life experiences, educational background, and artistic research and practice. Our organization is committed to creating an inclusive environment in both our programming and within our internal team. We are also committed to ensuring that our board and administrative team includes people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
